We have recently created a new and improved way to water our plants. We used our time at eco club to insert plant pots into the raised beds so that when we are not able to water the plants during summer term we can fill up the pots with water and the soil can take in as much water as the need and that can work for a whole week.
We're really sorry that we haven't posted or updated the site lately. Year six have been really busy with their SATS, and writing assessments, but we are starting to get back up and running! In assembly this morning, GREENPEACE came in to give us a talk on plastic polloution. The juniors thoroughly enjoyed it, and after break they came in to talk to Year 6 about all the work GREENPEACE has done across the world. On Tuesday, Y6 went on a litter hunt around the streets of Ferryhill and found some pretty weird and disgusting things! Why do people do this?
Yesterday in Eco club, we decided to do some research about the birds we made collages of. We found out a lot of new things!
Yesterday, we were inspired by the RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch and decided to make some collages of well known birds in Britain.
The day after we made our birdfeeders, we went outside to hang them up. We used trees and ornaments to hang them from.
Last week, we decided to make a healthy snack for the birds, using lard and birdseed. Everyone got stuck in, even with the unbearable stench! There were also lots of messy hands!
This half term we have been really busy with all of our exiting projects and activities. We have all worked really hard on all of them. These include: Gardening, a green flag celebration, designing Eco Christmas trees and much much more!
