In Eco and gardening we have been planting seeds in our beds. Also we have placed some stepping stones around the pond in our wildlife area.
We picked some of our school grown rhubarb to sell to parents, children and teachers. We also made a crumble with our rhubarb and most of use enjoyed it. We stared cleaning up our school garden as all classes are having their own raised bed to grow things and look after them.
This week in The Eco team have been cleaning out the bird hide and have been making scarecrow ready for an up and coming competition - watch this space for more news!
Cleves Cross primary were luck enough to have an opportunity to use a smoothie bike. Each class will be able to use and taste their smoothies. This exited the whole school as this was the first time many people had seen a smoothies bike before. We are also up-cycling something old to make it new and improves
Eco team are joining with gardening club too reduce waste. so we decided we should make more compost . We have put a bin on the playground so everyone can recycle their food waste so we can make compost to grow food.
Some members of Eco Team were creating IMovie and power points to show our twin school in Sir Lanka. This included many of the things we do as a Eco school and our achievements.
The rest of our Eco team were getting muddy as there cleaning out the Polly tunnel and planting some new trees to go with our apple trees. This week was the week of the Big School's Bird watch. Eco Team participated because we want to see what bird are dying out and what bird are expanding. We found many birds including Blackbirds ,House sparrows, Black-headed gull, Magpies,Robins and many more.
The Eco Ambassadors discussed what we want to do with our wildlife area. We came up with ideas including:
a new entrance, bigger path way,new window in the bird hide, cleaning out the pond, new bushes planted, and a den building area. We were also granted a total of £600 to spend on some of these things! Another busy week for Eco as we had the job of making bird feeders. We filled up bottle with bird feed and poked hole in them. Also Eco Team got some pinecones and covered them in lard then rolled them in bird feed. While some of us were doing that two other members of Eco cleaned out the chickens pen. Having fun somthies means mess and that was the case today!
As we returned back to Eco we had done some work on recycling and saving water. Making and creating posters to reminded us what too recycle and when. Thank you for our new eco team members!
